The old say "You can't beat out of the skin, what is born in the blood" is true when it comes to the fire service and talking about Marvin L. Robbins.
As a young man he would pedal his bicycle to watch Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department do firefighter drills. After finishing high school he served four years in the United States Air Force. He returned home in 1959 and immediately joined the fire department, he was immediately made secretary. Over the years of service, Marvin has worn every hat of responsibility in the department. When it comes to fire service knowledge Marvin is a true sage in his own right. He joined the fire department in its infancy and also Nash County's fire services infancy. He has seen the department grow from its genesis to what it is today. He is well seasoned in his experiences. He has made it through more years of service then most current department members are old. His love and dedication to duty to the department is unmatched. Marvin also served as a member of the Nash County Fire & Rescue Association's Color Guard and the Nash County Search Team. His enthusiasm, drive, and dedication to service is an example for everyone to study. In 2014 Marvin the 13th oldest serving firefighter in the State of North Carolina. Marvin through all of his works in the community he serves has sewn himself into the fabric which the Town of Sharpsburg and the community surrounding. Marvin L. Robbins is one of the many standout members of Sharpbsurg Fire Prevention Association.
